You might've heard about Google getting split up by our old "friends" over at the US Government, and the topic of this article is Google potentially having to give up Chrome.
You see, Chrome alongside the Chromium project has been part of Google since its creation in 2008 and given that the big G has a home field advantage just by owning a web browser, added with the fact that said web browser is the most used browser to date, the government saw that as anti-competitive, alongside the deals they made with Apple and Samsung to automatically make Google the default search engine on Safari and their full ownership of Android.
This is mostly a repeat of the time Microsoft got sued for having Internet Explorer preinstalled on Windows machines, but this time, Google's getting smacked in the face. Of course, as a Firefox user myself, I say they had it coming, Google's had a blatant hold on how people use the Internet since God knows how long, and I say it's time to give Yahoo another chance.
Yeah, I'm a bit of a hypocrite for saying this since I've practically been using Google as my primary search engine since the Obama administration, but it's really out of personal preference, some people use Softsoap to wash their hands, others use Suave Essentials, it's really the same thing, the difference is Softsoap isn't signing deals with Walmart to exclusively sell their soap.
But of course, Google's head honcho and bigwig legal guy Kent Walker called it "extreme" and said it would "break a range of Google products, even beyond Search, that people love and find helpful in their everyday lives", and Google's also planning to propose their own idea in December, presumably so they can keep ruling the Internet with an iron fist, go figure.
