Sorry, Minecraft lovers.

Notch, real name Markus Persson recently announced on his Twi- ahem, X account that he was no longer going through with "Minecraft 2", a spiritual successor to the popular game that he sold off to Microsoft in 2014 for $2.5 billion.

On New Year's Day, Notch tweeted a poll asking fans if they wanted to him to make Minecraft 2 (boomer) or a new game; a "traditional roguelike mixed with a tile based first person dungeon crawler". The votes were overwhelmingly in favour of Minecraft 2 with 81.5% of the vote, unsurprisingly, and 2 days later he officially announced it.

However, he has now U-turned on this decision just like he U-turned on his thoughts on transgender people. A few hours ago, he tweeted this message:

"Talked to the fellas at the office. Looks like we're making Levers and Chests! Tipping point was PC Gamer saying it seemed interesting, lol. Yeah I still love PC Gamer."

So... yeah. I understand Notch wanting to make something HE wants to make instead of fulfilling an obligation from fans, but if you didn't want to do it, why even bother announcing it?

Lot of hype for nothing...
