Trump wants to take over the Gaza Strip

For fuck's sake, I'm tired of this shit.

Dumb and Dumber.

Yesterday, Trump announced in a joint-conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US would take over the Gaza Strip, forcing the current residents to leave.

"The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too.", he said. "We'll own it, and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site and get rid of the destroyed buildings". He also stated that he wants to move Palestinians from Gaza to other countries, effectively ethnically cleansing Gaza of it's residents. He has asked countries like Egypt and Jordan to take Gaza's population, who have rejected his proposal.

Out of context, it does not sound like the worst thing in the world. Gaza has been decimated by the IDF after the October 7th attacks, and I doubt Palestinians would want to live in rubble and ruin; to quote Trump, "why would they wanna return? That place has been hell". But then you remember that Netanyahu is the main reason that Gaza ended up in this position at all and it seems pretty awful. Like, he's saying all this shit about how Gaza is a "symbol of death and destruction" and that it's become a demolition site; which is not entirely unfactual, but I'm just thinking... GEE, I WONDER WHY.

Trump has stated in regards to his plan that "Everyone loves it.", however nobody aside from a few far-right figures actually want this to happen. In fact, the majority of public figures have actively decried Trump's plan, including most Palestinians; Mustafa Barghouti, the leader of the Palestinian National Initiative, said: “Basically what President Trump is calling for is a war crime a war crime of ethnic cleansing."

“Palestinians will never accept that. Arab countries will never accept that. It’s a no-go plan and it will not succeed. And I don’t know who’s putting these ideas in his head, but if he thinks that Gaza is for sale, he’s wrong.”

All of this again begs the question: how will this lower the price of eggs??
